5 Tips to be thankful and be healthy

Be thankful and be healthy -How having daily gratitude can lead to greater well being:

Thanksgiving reminds us to be thankful, but wouldn’t it be amazing if we could adapt the same positive internal psychology every day.

Studies have shown that people who regularly practice feeling thankful have a leg up when it comes to their health. Robert Emmons, a psychology professor at the University of California at Davis, has been a leading researcher in this growing field, termed “positive psychology.” His research has found that those who adopt an “attitude of gratitude” as a permanent state of mind experience many health benefits.

We at Travel Roller are all about foam rolling, but understand that your body’s tone and tension is directly related to your spiritual and mental health.  Research has proven that people who are more grateful take better care of themselves physically and mentally, get more exercise, eat healthier, engage in more preventative health maintenance like foam rolling and self-myofascial release is. So its time to get grateful and thankful!

 

 

Here are 5 ways you can improve your gratitude:

 

1. Write a list of all the things you are grateful for in your life:

Most people think about their “stuff” and money and get constantly ungrateful for always wanting more – but what if all the stuff and money disappeared?! What and who in your lives are you be grateful for?!  By appreciating what we have even the smallest things (like fresh drinking water, roof over our head, food, clothing, friends, family etc.) our heart expands and our mental health improves. We become more content with what we have when we realize that our lives are filled with richness without the need of stuff which is driven from our egos not our spirit.

Keep this list with you by your bedside table and read it every night, until your richness is overflowing inside and you are overwhelmed with gratitude!

2. Get in touch with nature and have a quite moment:  When you experience the magic of nature weather it be at the ocean, forest, mountain or backyard oasis. Look around and be so grateful you are to just be alive! Allow yourself to feel small in comparison to the vastness of nature.  When we do this our problems also get smaller and we become more grateful and allow ourselves to just be.  Alow yourself to surrender to the silence of nature while turning off the constant noise and stress of daily life. gratitude

3. Change your focus from internal to external:

Helping others and giving of your time and energy makes people happier. Stop thinking about yourself all the time and think about what you can do to help others. Making someone else happy improves your own happiness.

4. Shift away from a sense of entitlement. Work hard and stay humble:

Keep yourself busy, work hard and stay humble will help you feel more grateful and stop comparing yourself to others.  Stop believing you are supposed to have without putting in the effort. Hard work = RESULTS. Be AWESOME but Stay humble!

5. Be thankful for what you have and you will attract more of the same into your life VS focusing on what you don’t have, as you will never have enough or be satisfied!
